Sand Hill Econometrics took the first step toward a performance benchmark for all classes of private equity by developing the Sand Hill Index of Venture. Based on Nobel Prize-winning bias correction techniques and cutting-edge statistical methods, it is the only benchmark for venture capital that is current, value-weighted and unbiased.
The proprietary database behind the Sand Hill Index of Venture is comprehensive in its scope, capturing close to 100% of the universe of institutionally funded private companies. In addition to using (in aggregate form) standard industry sources of company-level funding history, we also use data from our ongoing research of all events in the life cycle of venture, including company dissolutions.
The Sand Hill Index of Venture acts as an analog to commonly used public market benchmarks like the S&P 500 or DJ Wilshire 5000 for the venture community. As such, it exhibits the same characteristics as those indices and can be used for the same purposes.
For Industry Professionals, the price for the Sand Hill Index of Venture is $2,500 per annual subscription (4 quarterly editions). More information about the subscription is available on the Details page.
